Freya’s together with Al Brown is searching for New Zealand’s greatest homemade sandwich.

  2. Share the recipe so we know how it’s made and exactly what makes it so good.
  3. Tell us the story behind your sandwich.
  4. Upload a photo of your finished Freya’s creation.

Al brown will select five regional finalists from the entries and remake them before he hands it over to New Zealand to vote and crown the country’s ultimate homemade sandwich.

And if your sandwich is selected as the winner, you’ll receive $5000, a year’s supply of Freya’s bread and your sandwich on the menu at Fed. Deli – Al's restaurant in Auckland’s Sky City.

Turns out, kiwis are in a sandwich rut.

The Freya’s sandwich census found that the average Kiwi knows just three sandwich recipes, while 7 in 10 make the same sandwich at least three times a week. And when it comes to bread, 55% stick to whatever they have at home or the same variety every time.

But we reckon there are plenty of great sandwich ideas out there - we just don’t know about them.

That’s where the Freya’s Great Kiwi Sandwich Search comes in. We’re searching the country for the ultimate homemade sandwiches already being made in kiwi kitchens.

And with Freya’s range of sliced breads, there are plenty of ways to switch up your usual slice, too.
